Electric Bike Team

Workride - New Zealand’s Ride to Work Benefit program is proud to partner with awesome retailers right across the country, who are able to provide epic bikes, advice and experiences for employees!

In this blog we want to highlight the impact of the Electric Bike Team (EBT) - Auckland’s largest retailer of e-bikes. Their goal is to help find the best e-bike for you, so that you can enjoy the life-transforming magic of e-bikes! Their mission its to turn Auckland into a city on two wheels. They offer a comprehensive range of bicycles and accessories for all rider types, including baskets, bags, child seats, waterproof paniers, helmets, and puncture proof tyres, so come and see for yourself!

As a proud Workride retail partner, Electric Bike Team has been helping more Kiwis make the switch to cycling by making e-bikes more accessible through cost offsets of 32-63%. With a strong focus on sustainability and city-friendly commuting, they’re playing a key role in shaping the future of urban mobility in Auckland.

We caught up with Maurice from the Electric Bike Team to hear his thoughts on the program and all things cycling…

Maurice - Owner of Electric Bike Team Auckland - Workride Registered Partner Store

What has your experience been like with Workride so far?

“The whole Workride process for the retailer is impressively smooth - easy to use B2B portal and clear status of each customer's bike. Once a workplace is registered with Workride, it's smooth sailing from there, with an entire workplace full of potential e-bike owners! "

What do you think makes Workride a great option for people considering a bike?

“Buying anything from your pre-tax income is a rare opportunity to make your money go a little bit further. Previously reserved for things like work vehicles and car parking, it’s great to see bikes and e-bikes now get the same treatment! This is awesome on so many levels and basically means you have a moral obligation to treat yourself! Depending on the e-bike chosen and your tax rate, it's not unusual to save thousands of dollars on the purchase. If your company is already signed up with Workride, then it's easy as for you. If they're not and you convince them to, you'll have helped out all your colleagues too.”

If you could have any bike right now, what would it be and why?

“The older I get, the weirder I get. Right now I'm thinking of a tandem bike. A lovely duo came in to test ride our electric tandem yesterday - a young guy and his mum. I'm hoping I'll be so lucky and that one day my kids will be taking me on tandem rides.”

What are you currently riding, and where’s your favourite place to ride?

“Depending on the kids' schedules, I'm either riding a front loading electric cargo bike (Gazelle Cabby) or a 'single seater' eZee Sprint. I enjoy any excuse to ride on Te ara ki uta ki tae - the newish path linking Tāmaki Drive to Glen Innes. BIke paths have been popping up in Glen Innes too which are a treat I'm happy to get used to“
